We have a student, Jonathan Studdard, who is need of scholarship money to attend Cathedral Academy. Jonathan is the young man who participates as an acolyte on Sundays at our church. He also cuts grass for our church. He is currently in foster care and is from Anniston, AL. Any amount, great or small would help offset his tuition and curriculum expenses. It costs Jonathan $180.00 per month for 12 months to attend Cathedral Academy and book fees are $300.00. Again, any amount would greatly bless this young man.
We learned this morning that at around 6:30 AM Shirley Young passed away. The cause was from a series of heart attacks. Shirley had been quite ill over the past few months and had spend a great deal of time in ICU. She was currently at a rehabilitation center in Birmingham. Please keep Merle and the entire family in your prayers.
As of 7:15 Sun morning here in the US, Carrie has been at the hospital about 10 hours. She is only dilated about 2.5 cm and is ready for the baby to make it’s entrance. She asks for your prayers for a speedy delivery.
Melissa Huffman’s nephew, Jacob Finney, 7 yrs old, is in a Mobile hospital. He was diagnosed with having Mono earlier this week. Now he can’t swallow and has an enlarged liver. The Drs are talking about removing a tonsil. Please pray for him and the family. Thanks.
Greetings everyone!Joey and I are still in Cave Spring,Ga.living in our little home on wheels.Joey is working crazy long hours so please pray for his protection.We are not excatly sure what the Lords plan is for us at this point.Just taking one day at a time and trying to hear Him.We have put the selling of our home on hold until we know for sure what the plan is here.Please pray we will clearly hear Him and cooperate with Him.Things can get really muddy when you are physically and /or emotionally strained.We love you all and hope to see you on Sun.

I am amazed more do not use this. 1:Shirley is still in intensive care and now has a trach 2;Margret feels very poorly with bad headache for days 3;Lois is still in need of oxygen and a healed intestional system I would appreciate prayer for all. Lois
Olivia’s surgery went very well and she is doing fine. They removed one-sixth of her liver. There was a small spot on her stomach which was removed and biopsied. The results were negative (i.e., not cancer). Hallelujah!
Olivia Jones will be undergoing surgery on Wednesday May 19th in Birmingham. They anticipate the stay in the hospital to be 7-10 days. As this is major surgery please lift her and Bishop Jones up in prayer daily.
Please pray for Yancey Jernigan. He is 42, married with 3 boys, oldest being 13, and has just been diagnosed with advanced liver cancer. First told he had 2 months to live. Now with agressive treatment, they are hoping to have 2 years. Please pray for him, his wife, children, and extended family.
Please pray for my sister,Andrea Park. She was admitted into the hospital last night with really bad chest pains. She is having a heart cath sometime today. Please pray that all is clear,and for her comfort. Thanks and God Bless.
Shirley Young has an obstruction in her intestines. They are trying to figure out what it is and also she has received several units of blood and the doctors are unsure where the loss is occuring. They are also trying to stabilize her blood pressue due to blood loss. Please keep her and Merle in your prayers.
Please pray for Shirley Young. She is having surgery on May 11, at UAB-Highland (old HealthSouth campus and Southhighland Hospital). She broke her hip on April 20, and has been waiting for surgery unable to move without a great deal of pain. The same hip was operated on with a replacement and now EXTENSIVE surgery will be required today. The surgery is at 8 am, but your prayers right now will be important. Join with me to believe that God will heal, give peace and and complete recovery! Thank you for your prayers!
The MRI report was good! Praise God for that….only the 2 small spots we already knew about showe up in over 3000 pics of both breasts and the chest wall. I told the devil to get back in his lair and shut up that he was a liar and a fearmonger. Ya’ll,he did! Every time I repeat this to believers and now typing it, I really get chills…..I literally felt the slimy being receding from me as I told him that. Also, I said I belonged to Jesus and was a child of the King and did not have to take that mess from him. Thanks to Dr. Eva Rubin, the radiologist, I did not have to wait until the following Wed. for the MRI report. I saw Dr. Howard Snider that day (May 5) and he is the doctor that God picked for me! he sent me to the Montgomery Cancer Center on Friday to talk with Dr. John Reardon regarding treatment. He is the oncologist that God picked for me. Can I say more? God’s Peace has settled over our hearts about all of this as we waited on God to put it all in place. As Bracken said the day of the diagnosis, God allowed us to know about it early, 4 mos. after a negative mammogram, so He would show us every step to take and that is what is happening. We are just thanking Him for this and we than you for all your prayers and concern and advice. You are a precious body of believers. As it stands at this time, I will have surgery (lumpectomy) on May 20 at Baptist South and stay overnight. I will start on Arimidex shortly after that and have the radiation treatments when I return from Japan sometime in early August. A matter for prayer now, please, is approval for the Personal Leave I have requested from work to be able to journey to Japan for a month (instead of 7 days) to attend the birth of Carrie and Satoshi’s child, our first grandchild. Blessed be the Name of the Lord and may it be praised forever!

Please pray for my strength and faith and patience in this walk with the Lord through the forest of breast cancer. The biopsies were positive for ILC, second most common malignancy of the breast in menopausal women. What a blessing the Lord let me find the “marble” which turned out not to be anything, but the persistent radiologist at the Breast Center in Montgomery found a couple of tiny spots that were not on the screening mammogram done in December. Therefore, I did not wait until next Dec. to be seen again, but have found this at an early stage. Am waiting results of the MRI done yesterday before I go back to work tonight. I do so much appreciate all the encouraging words and prayers and cards and love I have felt from you at Christ the King and at Houston Park. I am seeking to walk closer with the Lord through this and He is there as He has been every day of my life, the easy and the hard, in the past. Believing Romans 8:39 today going forward, that NOTHING can separate us from the love of God for us in Christ Jesus our Lord! Praise His Holy Name.
I received a call from Mary Balcom (she was with Betty Brennan on one of her visits to Selma) to let us know that Betty is in the hospital in Pheonix, AZ. She went to the hospital with chest and arm pains Tests (I assume a heart cath.) show that she has at least three blockages and she will have to have heart surgery. Mary called asking that we as a parish and Bishop Chuck as our Bishop be in prayer for Betty. Pray for Mary and her family as she lost a brother-in-law yesterday.
Having just listened to Lord’s Prayer #2 I know my needs are known to our Papa so I hope to entreat willing prayers to make their request known as the Lord leads each individual———-MY aunt, Doll is at Homewood .Please pray for her needs as our Papa shows you and you are willing. Gail Ingram went for a followup mammogram for a suspicious spot this morning. Although that spot was pronounced ok, apparently the physician saw something else. So, they have taken more images and want to do a biopsy. We would appreciate prayer. – Bracken
My dad, Harrell Watts, is at Shelby Baptist in Alabaster awaiting a heart catheterization today. Yesterday he had symptomatic heart problems ie. pain in chest, shortness of breath, and numbness and tingling in left arm, with left jaw pain – But he did not have a “heart attack”. Just send this out asking for prayers from our church body. Dad already has a pacemaker and one coronary stent that was placed over five years ago. So you can see my reason for concern.
